Illustrator notes

(I) Watch Mr. Webb's demonstration and post notes to do the following on your blog:
- Creating a new canvas (document)
     press Command+N to make a new canvas
     3 sections of Adobe Illustrator (Toolbox [left], Menu bar [at the top], Panels [right])
     PROFILE: Print, SIZE: Letter, ORIENTATION: Portait

- Interface navigation, drawing tools (Illustrator's shapes & using the Pen Tool)
    Rectangle Tool (M) - makes squares and rectangles with sharp edges
    Rounded rectangle tool - makes rectangles with rounded edges
    Ellipse tool - draw circles and ovals
    Polygon Tool - draws convex regular polygons.
    Star tool - draws stars; to add more edges tap the up arrow, to remove edges tap the down arrow; to     control the sharpness of the star, hold the command key while drawing the star.

   Selection Tool (V)- looks like a black arrow.  Use to select objects that you want to move, copy or     delete.

    Pen Tool (P) - draws line segments and curves

- Setting the Fill Color, and the Stroke Color
First, select your object or line.  
Second, click on the fill color box to set the fill color. 
OR, click on the stroke color box to set the stroke color

- Saving file formats (saving for Adobe Illustrator editing vs. Saving an image for the web)
Save for Adobe Illustrator = (.ai) <<Can ONLY be opened in Illustrator.
Save for the Internet/Your blog = (.jpeg, .gif, .png) << Can be uploaded to your blog.

Pictogram


Signs & Visual Communication, Part 2a - Elements of Design

Calligram: a word or piece of text in which the design and layout of the letters creates a visual image related to the meaning of the words themselves.

Pictograms: a pictorial symbol for a word or phrase. Pictographs were used as the earliest known form of writing, examples having been discovered in Egypt and Mesopotamia from before 3000 BC.

Restrooms

This shows a person where the restroom is but in the pictogram its basically saying theres boy and girl restrooms. 
Super Heroes

Theses are super hero's and the pictogram just shows all the different type of hero's.
Work area

This pictogram just shows that this is a work area and work area only.

Rebus: a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters; for instance, apex might be represented by a picture of an ape followed by a letter X.

1. I dream that I'm at the beach, and sharks are swimming in bubbles around me. Now's the to use my brain and turn the sharks into playful dolphins. 
2. The rebus that are being used is a picture of an eye, a beach, shark, bubbles, clock, a brain, and dolphins.
1. In the summer of 2002, a woman from the mountains and a man from the forest met in new york. Over the next many nights they spend lots of time together enjoying food, riding, and flying the globe. They made a great pair and fell in love. They finally decided to dive in and tie the knots. They invite you to their wedding in the Big Apple. 
2. Te rebus that are shown hear are a picture of the letter "I", a picture of a women, a picture of mountains, a picture of a man, a picture of a leaf, a picture on the statue of liberty, a moon a timer,  food, bike, plane, globe, pear, a man falling, a heart, a man diving, rope with knots, a wedding picture and a apple.

  • This Sign is located in parks

  • This tells where you can get help or get information for something 
  • In a national forest park

  • This tells the person who's reading this sign where the restrooms are located
  • These are found in all national park
5)Parking 
  • This symbol tells you where a vehicle can be parked 
  • It can be found a in parks and streets 
6)Lodging
  • This tells you where a cabin mite be located for you to rest 
  • These are located where theres snow
7)Food service
  • Tells you where theres food 
  • Theses are located in malls 
8)Self guiding trail 
  • These tell you where you can tour around 
  • These are located in a national park
9)Handicapped
  • This image tells that a specific spot or area is for handicapped only 
  • These are found almost everywhere in parking lots, restrooms, walkways etc.

  • This sign means where you can find information or ask questions
  • The viewer will see this in  museums or local stores

  • This tells you where a store is located and you can get food 
  • These are found around markets and big local places 
12)Telephone
  • These tell you where a local phone is located 
  • These can be found in parks and streets

  • These let a person know where they can take a hike
  • Theses are found in national arks with hills or mountains

  • This tells a person where they can drop of there boats in the water 
  • These are found in large areas with water

  • This lets a a person know where the water is 
  • Its found near a doc or  anywhere near the ocean
16)Scuba diving 
  • This lets a person know where they are be able to scuba dive 
  • Theres are located around places with water that are safe to scuba dive

  • This tells a person where the can go sailing 
  • These are located around beaches

  • This sign lets a person know where they can take a boat tour 
  • They are usually located near docs

My 1st assignment

Alphabet: a set of letters or symbols in a fixed order, used to represent the basic sounds of a language; in particular, the set of letters from A to Z. 


Street Sign: a sign usually on the side of a street or high way bearing symbols or words of of warning or direction to motorists or pedestrians and often having a characteristic shape. 


Advertisement: a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy.


Constellationa group of stars forming a recognizable pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure. Modern astronomers divide the sky into eighty-eight constellations with defined boundaries. 


ASCII symbols: (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is the most common format for text files in computers and on the Internet. In an ASCII file, each alphabetic, numeric, or special character is represented with a 7-bit binary number (a string of seven 0s or 1s). 


Electronic symbols: An electronic symbol is a pictogram used to represent various electrical and electronic devices (such as wires, batteries, resistors, and transistors) in a schematic diagram of an electrical or electronic circuit


Morse Code: an alphabet or code in which letters are represented by combinations of long and short signals of light or sound.


American Sign Language: a form of sign language developed in the US and used also in English-speaking parts of Canada. 


Glyph: a hieroglyphic character or symbol; a pictograph.
